“7 Tips to Boost Your Presence in Work and Personal Life”
There are some individuals that innately have “Presence”. In show business this is referred to as stage presence. You notice them. You want to know what they are doing and what they have to say. You enjoy their company and if they were on stage you can’t take your eyes off of them.
Know that you can develop “Presence” which boosts your visibility, confidence, and excels interview, communication and leadership skills.
Here are 7 Tips to Boost Your Presence in Work and Personal Life:
-
Be an expert in one or two topics. If you are an employee learn something new about an aspect of your job and share it with your employer. If you are starting a new venture or business know yourself well and your product. Be true to yourself, be your own best friend and be passionate. If you are in a new relationship know something that you have in common and something you don’t. Be ready to communicate on both!
- Smile, laugh, be cheerful. People gravitate towards happy people and want to be with them or want to know what makes them smile, laugh, and be cheerful. Imagine you are the star on the red carpet! You will attract like-minded people.
- Good posture and a sense of fashion. Is it color, different hairstyles, accessories, makeup, etc? Whatever it is show up with a sense of fashion, back straight and imagine energy reaching out through the top of your head. Breathe and enjoy yourself.
- Compliments go along way. Are you a compliment giver, receiver or both? If you received useful information from a colleague’s lecture take a moment to tell her/him you did. If you love a pair of sunglasses your girl friend is wearing, she would love to hear that. People will remember you in this way.
- Be aware of the voice within you. Your authentic voice is a wonderful marketing tool to explore and expand. Find your natural pitch and speed. Note, if you speak very fast you may come across as nervous. Too slow, boring. Take note on how loud you speak or how soft. Know the difference between your indoor voice and your outdoor voice. I recommend taking a few singing lessons which will expand your awareness besides being so much fun in the 2nd half of life!
- Combine your story with humor. Whether you are starting your business, in a career transition or new relationship adding humor to a short story boosts attention. Remember your story telling comes from the heart. Your humor comes from your inner joy. People really get to know you and again will remember you, your story and your humor.
- Take a stand. It takes courage, passion, and conviction to take a stand. People will respect and take notice of what you are saying and therefore be remembered.
This month choose one or two tips and see how they benefit your “Presence”. This may take you out of your comfort zone yet I assure you it will be worthwhile. While working with the tips remember:
Be true to yourself, Be your own best friend and Be in the moment.
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our focus towards change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable”. Helen Keller
“Look famous. Be legendary. Appear complex. Act easy. Radiate presence. Travel light. Seem a dream. Prove real”. Unknown
“The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers”. Thich Nhat Hanh
“Thanks To My Expansive Audience”
