Face the “Follow Through” Challenge Head On

While working with many clients over the years I have found the toughest challenge is “Following Through” on who you want to be, what you want to do, and how to get there.  What better time than Mid-Life to face this challenge head on!

So what do I mean by “Head On”? I mean look at the challenge, decide right here and now you will follow through -No Matter What- and then take the action you said you would take. Remember your word counts!

For most of us, perhaps not following through over the years has become a Bad Habit. The good news is: Habits can change when you are willing to change them. So what to do if the habit of not following through is standing in your way of moving forward?

Here are 5 Ways to Face this Challenge Head On

1. Review your priorities. No overbooking.

If you have 5 priority phone calls to make in one day, choose to reassess and make 3 of those phone calls today and the other 2 the next day. Review the newsletter “How to Prioritize Where You Want To Go in Mid-Life”.

2. Create space for the “Being Mode”.

To “Be” is to chill from doing! Being can be gardening, meditation, alone time, breathing and balancing processes, staying in bed all day without computers and cell phones and the list goes on. You decide.

3. Eliminate sabotaging self talk.

So rather than saying: “I can’t believe I didn’t get to my 5 phone calls today! How bad is that?”  Inspiring self talk may sound like: Good for you, Andrea for getting to 3 phone calls today and they all went well. I look at my appt. book and know that I can make the other 2 phone calls tomorrow and I will! Hear the difference?

4. Focus on the benefits of “Follow Through”.

Do you know what that feels like? Well here’s what clients have said: “what a relief”, “the burdens off my shoulders”, “yes, I empowered myself”, “FREEDOM YES, I never knew how great I would feel after following through”, “I feel a sense of great self-confidence” and “I am finally a responsible person. I can count on me”. Keep your focus on these benefits. I thank all clients for their input.

5. Get Support.

Remember, like minded friends attract like minded results. In other words, hang out with friends who have acquired the habit of follow through or are working towards the same goal. If not, acquire new friends. This is what it takes to move forward in your life.

I also recommend joining a mastermind group, purchasing the Core Image Process Product or you are welcome to contact me at andrea@alignmentwithlife.com  for a one on one session to clarify what following through can do for you and what actions steps you are willing to take to get there.

If you have a tip or two on how you “Follow Through” I’d love to share them in my next “Motivational Update”. Any questions or comments please contact me at andrea@alignmentwithlife.com.
